Pre-Transport Checklist for Your Car
Follow these steps before handing over your car. This protects you if any damage is claimed.
- Wash the car before pickup — this reveals all existing scratches and dents
- Photograph the car from all 4 sides, top, and dashboard
- Note the odometer reading and photograph it
- Reduce fuel level to one quarter of the tank
- Remove all personal items from the inside and the boot
- Disable the car alarm and GPS tracker
- Remove toll tags and parking passes
- Note the tyre pressure in writing
- Sign the PDI (Pre-Delivery Inspection) form with the transporter
- Keep a copy of the PDI form with you throughout the transit

No. Remove all personal belongings from the car before handover. Carriers are not responsible for items left inside the vehicle.

After delivery, check the odometer. It should show only a very small increase — just the distance from the loading yard to your door. A large jump means the car was driven without permission.
Do not sign the delivery receipt if you see any damage. Photograph the damage immediately. File a written claim with the transporter and insurer within 24 hours of delivery.
